Operations Manager – Vessel Operations
Full time, permanent
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Operations Manager to lead export activities, build strong stakeholder relationships, and drive operational excellence. You will be a key point of contact for operational matters, support reporting, and ensure the efficient delivery of vessel operations while maintaining a strong focus on cost control and service performance.
How you will help us and what you can expect
- Overall responsibility to ensure all deadlines are reviewed & met to allow effective and accurate planning and vessel operations within the fluid & dynamic berthing schedule created by Geneva and UK based network team.
- Focal point for all export cargo of all types, liaising with terminals, planners and all other stakeholders as required to ensure safe and efficient connection to planned vessel.
- Management, control and reporting of export related costs and performance at all UK Ports
- Improve customer satisfaction through the delivery of excellent customer service.
- Develop the individual and collective skills, knowledge and motivation of the team
- Contribute to a positive work climate through a flexible attitude to work and support for colleagues and other team members.
- Accurate and timely reporting for both MSC UK and MSC Geneva management
- Analyse and monitor performance against KPI’s
- Liaise with other managers and key staff within Port Operations to develop the department as a whole.
Skills and experience you’ll bring to us
- Proven Leadership skills
- Knowledge and experience of terminal, vessel and associated operations.
- Ability to develop the collective knowledge of the team and generate a continuous talent pipeline
- A professional, positive and flexible attitude at all times
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to effectively communicate at all levels
- Demonstrate vision and ability to scrutinise effectively.
- Ability to build positive operational relationships with both internal and external customers.
- Excellent PC skills including MS Office 365 software
- Ability to perform under pressure and be flexible to complete tasks outside normal office hours where essential to support the MSC Network.
