Special Equipment Planner

Full time, permanent

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Special Equipment Container Planner to manage the planning and control of reefer equipment, smart containers and gensets across the UK network. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, have excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to analyse data, manage stock levels, and coordinate equipment movements to meet customer demand whilst controlling costs. They will build strong relationships with terminals, depots and MSC Geneva Logistics, ensuring equipment is available where and when it is needed and supporting the wider planning team to deliver an efficient and reliable service.

How you will help us and what you can expect

  • Establish yourself as a key focal point for MSC Geneva Logistics, relating to reefer equipment and smart containers.
  • Proactively consider the reefer equipment Empty surplus/deficit areas, communicating suggestions to MSC Geneva Logistics.
  • Daily routing of reefer equipment and gensets In line with export demands, considering cost to the agency.
  • Daily stock checks and control of reefer equipment in line with demand and transport availability, monitoring and ensuring return of empty in timely manner.
  • Stock control and management / release of smart containers within the UK.
  • Build relationship with all Terminals & Depots throughout the UK and challenging them with ageing reefer equipment.
  • Assisting in the cover of colleagues with the routing of dry and special equipment in line with export demands, considering costs to the agency.
  • Analysis of historical data and trends relating to reefer equipment forecast vs bookings.
  • To deal and proactively manage EDI errors and related issues, communicating this to the team, Logistics Analysts and Depots in a timely manner.
  • Administer clerical tasks and procedures accurately and efficiently.
  • Manage and document any new processes relating to reefers or smart containers.

Skills and experience you’ll bring to us

  • Excellent communication internally and with HQ as well as a continued positive attitude to new business challenges.
  • Proven ability to manage and forward plan within a fast paced, demanding and constantly evolving environment.
  • Ability to address and resolve day to day business issues with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Provide excellent and consistent support for other container planners within the team.
  • Good numeracy, literacy, and IT skills, including Microsoft skills (Outlook, Excel/ Destin8/Link/Paris).
  • Be able to demonstrate a professional manner at all times.
  • Ability to be flexible and meet strict deadlines.
  • Must remain focused on prioritisation of day-to-day emails and tasks.
